A US visa is decided in an interview that usually lasts a couple of minutes. Everything you submit beforehand exists to support what you say in that room, and the officer's central question under Section 214(b) is whether you have shown enough reason to return to India.

That is why preparation matters more here than for any other destination. Applicants who are refused are rarely refused for a missing document. They are refused because an answer contradicted the file, or because the purpose of the trip was described vaguely, or because the funding source could not be explained clearly.

Hyderabad has its own US Consulate General, so applicants from Telangana usually interview here rather than travelling. Appointment slot availability is the practical constraint rather than processing time, and it fluctuates through the year.

Visa categories

US visa categories we handle.

B-1 and B-2 visitor visa

For tourism, visiting family, medical treatment, business meetings and conferences. Usually issued as a combined B-1/B-2 and often with multi year validity.

F-1 student visa

For full time study at a US institution. Requires an I-20 from the university and a SEVIS fee payment before the interview.

Business travel under B-1

Meetings, negotiations, conferences and training. Employment is not permitted on this category, and the distinction matters at the port of entry.

Family visit

Visiting relatives in the US falls under B-2. Invitation and sponsor documents strengthen the file but do not replace your own ties to India.

Before you apply

Why applications get refused.

Under Section 214(b) every visitor visa applicant is presumed to intend immigration until they demonstrate otherwise. These are the patterns that fail to overcome that presumption.

Get your profile assessed
  • Weak evidence of ties to IndiaProperty, employment, family responsibilities and business interests all serve as reasons to return. A file that shows none of these invites doubt regardless of how well funded it is.
  • Funds that do not match the storyA balance that appeared days before submission, or one inconsistent with declared income, reads as arranged rather than real.
  • Inconsistency across documentsWhen the covering letter, itinerary, hotel bookings and leave letter disagree on dates or purpose, the whole file loses credibility.
  • Incomplete or expired supporting papersA bank statement that stops weeks early, or an insurance policy below the required cover, is enough on its own.
  • Photograph and form errorsAvoidable, but they cost an entire appointment slot and sometimes a fee.

Questions

USA visa questions.

Slot availability changes constantly and is the main variable rather than processing time. We monitor availability rather than checking once, and we will give you a realistic picture at the consultation.

It means the officer was not satisfied you had demonstrated sufficient ties to India to overcome the presumption of immigrant intent. It is not permanent and you may reapply, but reapplying without anything having materially changed usually produces the same result.

Applicants from Telangana normally attend the US Consulate General in Hyderabad. Biometrics are given separately at the visa application centre before the interview.

Yes, under B-2. Their student documents and an invitation help, but the officer will still focus on your own ties to India and your ability to fund the trip.

Only once something has genuinely changed, whether that is employment, finances, or how the case is presented. Bring the refusal record to the consultation and we will tell you honestly whether reapplying now is worth the fee.
